Mumbai Police arrests the 1st suspect of Udta Punjab online leak case

Udta Punjab was undoubtedly the most controversial film of this year. After getting into censor trouble, it was leaked online before two days of its official release. Here is the press release.

"A complaint of illegal uploading of the film on the internet was lodged with cyber police on June 15 by Satyajit Mukherjee, Deputy General Manager (legal) of Phantom Films Pvt Ltd, makers of the film.

Now Mumbai police have made the first arrest of this online leak case.The investigators have found that the original Censor Board copy of Udta Punjab was "stolen" and subsequently uploaded on a website.

A Delhi resident was arrested in Mumbai today in connection with the uploading illegally of Bollywood movie Udta Punjab before its official release last week. The accused, identified as Deepak Kumar, was summoned to the office of the Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police here today where he was arrested, a senior officer said. When the movie was downloaded, it was realised that the original Censor copy was “stolen” and subsequently uploaded on the website by user robby007, the officer said."

Some people alleged that this film was leaked by Censor Board. However we have yet to find out.
