The controversial film Udta Punjab is all set to release this Friday. The film directed by Abhishek Chaubey stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Diljit Dosanjh and Kareena Kapoor Khan in main roles. It is based on the drug issue in the state of Punjab.
Udta Punjab was caught in a controversy with the Censor Board as they wanted 93 cuts in the film. However, the producers refused to do so and went to High Court. This has resulted in a huge buzz and hype for Udta Punjab. It got the coverage on all TV channels and was also discussed widely among the public. That is a free publicity.
Shahid Kapoor's box office track is not that great. However, he has been getting a lot of accolades for his performance in Udta Punjab. Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor are also considered as one of the biggest stars in India. The presence of Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh is an icing on the cake.
But Udta Punjab is coming from Phantom Films that has produced disasters like Bombay Velvet and Shaandaar. The audience is smart enough to realize that their films only cater to a small section. The impact is huge in mass centers and single screens.

We expect the film to collect 9.40 crore on its opening day.

I think Udta Punjab will be super hit in punjab delhi & mumbai, lifetime collection from these three places will be approximately 60 crores & rest of india will be 22 crores. Overseas collections will be around 28 crores.
Those who are saying this movie will be crap and flop they must know that this movie is not like housefull3 type and i think this will cross the bo collection of housefull3....

Really annoyed at what you said "Shahid's poor form" do you know what he did for the role. No you don't know. But you'll write whatever you want. He lost a lot of weight, didn't eat 80% of his diet for 3 months, had 3 weeks long fever. But you don't care. You'll say whatever comes in your mind.
