Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyan. Akshay Kumar is playing Keshav and the only thing he dreams of is getting married. But on account of being a manglik, he is married off to a cow. One day he meets Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) and falls in love. After getting married, she is introduced to the lota gang by the women of her house and she finds out that there is no toilet in the house.
However, she fights back along with Keshav. She demands for a toilet in the house, strongly protesting against open defecation. Keshav joins her in the movement and has to go through the political and social complications.
The trailer has humour in the first part but it is not forced and within the context of the film. It looks like a solid entertainer with a social message. The audience will relate to the subject and treatment of the film. It is set in the rural background which is a big plus today. A film like Dangal also had the same vibes except that it was not a fully commercial film.
Overall TEPK trailer is a winner and is one of the better promos to come this year. The subject has not been raised earlier in films and if executed well, it can prove to be a long-running film.
Business rating for the trailer is 4/5. It is going to appeal both masses and classes. This film has the potential to be Akshay Kumar's biggest hit till date.
