Tamasha Reviews by Critics :
Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Tamasha has received decent reviews. Most of the people have praised the performance of the lead pair and cinematography. We will add more reviews on this page shortly. Lets’s take a look at Tamasha reviews and rating by top critics.
On the whole Tamasha is another brilliant work by Imtiaz Ali. The film has all the ingredients which you can expect from the director.
The movie isn’t a conventional love story, but every emotion has been layered with justification that only Imtiaz could pull off successfully. This ‘Tamasha’ is definitely to be seen again and again. Going by the full house that came in to see the film for a 9 am show, Ranbir Kapoor had never lost any audience despite 3 flops in row.
Watch it for the direction, for Ranbir’s acting, for the chemistry between Ranbir and Deepika, for the music, for the different story. Why always the same story? Try Tamasha for a change.
In all, Tamasha is vintage wine. There are inhibitions that keep you from falling head-over-heels in love with the film the first time you watch it. Once done away with the initial hesitation, Tamasha is an experience. Watch the film for, well, everything.
Watch Tamasha because it’s beyond the ordinary and for the fantastic screen chemistry of Ranbir and Deepika.
This is not a film telling us a trite, oft repeated story of longings and ecstasies of a man and woman in love. This unique love story talks of self love. It jolts you out of your safe cocoon of social conditioning to pointedly ask you if you love yourself enough to be able to throw up the rules of society and live the way you really want to.
The final verdict? Should we go and watch? Umm yes! I feel Shagun Batra dealt with the same issue in Ek Main Aur Ek Tu a shade better, devoid of any dramatics, real and urbane. But Tamasha, despite bringing in a touch of tamasha, is a one-time watch for sure.
Full marks to Deepika, Ranbir, Rahman but it is Imtiaz's victory. Take a bow for the gut-wrenchingly painfulAgar Tum Saath Ho, for the spark in Ranbir's eye when his father tells him - yeh wala hero best hai, for returning Mona Darling her Don and mostly, for giving hope to the average people to go find their extraordinary side. Thank God, you have the courage to explore the space between dil and dimaag and give us an inspired story that triumphs. Thank you for not giving us the same story!
Deepika and Ranbir convey their angst and passion so convincingly that you're hooked. Except for the curiosity about them, the rest of the drama is `oh,never-mind'.
Matargashti and Heer toh badi sad hai, two of Rahman's songs, are magical even as standalone numbers.
The plot of Tamasha is brilliant- kudos to Imtiaz Ali! But the execution is not up to the mark. Ranbir and Deepika look picture perfect, as expected. It is not an ordinary love story even though it may look like one. For all those who like performance driven films, Tamasha is a must-watch!
Overall, 'Tamasha' is a definite watch for all those who believe in love and the fact that people change, but not always for reasons of their own, but because of the world they live in. A clear picture of how twisted your life can become, under the painful currents of life. But, the clear winners in this 'drama' are the protagonists, more than the story itself.
On the whole, TAMASHA comes across as a colossal disappointment in spite of towering performances and chemistry between the lead stars. At the box-office, the film will find it difficult to sustain and negative word of mouth will further erode its business capacity to a great extent.
Tamasha is different but not perfect. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone deliver fine performances, making this film a one-time watch.
An off-the beaten track love story that does not go far enough with its surprises, Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha is a film that flatters to deceive. Tamasha is at best a one-time watch because of the sparkle the leads lend to it. It could have been so much more.
Despite its flaws, this is Ali’s most complex story, teeming with ideas, and gives us Ranbir back again, along with the lovely Deepika, even if the plot keeps losing sight of her : there are tracts when she goes missing.
