Spider-Man Homecoming, Guest in London and MOM Box Office Opening: This weekend saw the release of two Bollywood films, MOM and Guest in London. There is also a Hollywood biggie Spider-Man Homecoming. Once again, Hollywood has overtaken Bollywood as far the initial is concerned.
Sridevi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer MOM has released in around 1350 screens which include dubbed versions of Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam too. The film has a poor opening of around 15-18% in the morning shows. However, it has received positive reviews and has chances to pick up in the evening. So MOM 1st day collection can be reasonable. Also if it manages to find appreciation then we can expect good growth on Saturday.
Guest in London has opened to under 10% occupancy despite lower screen count. It was a sequel to 2010's film but there is no brand value. Looking at the reviews and early response, it is likely to be another failure.
Hollywood film Spider-Man Homecoming has taken the best start as it opened to 35% occupancy in the morning shows. The opening is better at multiplexes in cities. Spider-Man is one of the most popular franchises in India, however, the last few films have not shown much growth in business. Spider-Man Homecoming will be targeting to collect in the range of 6-7 crores on day 1.
