On the whole, ROCKY HANDSOME is for people who like action films. Despite the film having a simple plot, it has been garnished with engrossing drama and action stunningly. One can find the right mix of tension, action, emotion under one roof. A well-made action thriller!
Style and stunts play a big role in action movies. But you can't discount other aspects of filmmaking just to make an action film that looks sexy. The biggest mistake Rocky Handsome makes is to give it's lead character an emotional and patriotic back story. It just turns him into another caricature and it never quite justifies his appetite for killing. John Abraham's training in martial arts is evident in the scenes featuring him in hand-to-hand combat. There the effort is 100 per cent. But rest of the way, this is one rocky film trying a little too hard to be handsome.
It is physically painful to sit through a film that had as much potential as Rocky Handsome but fails to realize it. For action junkies, John Abraham returns with a bang and packs a punch heavier than ever before. But the most disappointing thing about the film is that it lacks soul.
Rocky Handsome is an action packed movie of a person who wants save a little girl from a drug mafia as his ultimate redemption. Unfortunately, it only has great action scenes and nothing else. Weak storyline combined with an ordinary execution.
Rocky Handsome may seem a jumbled up version of John Abraham to some, and this is the third time he is playing Kabir. Too much of self-introspection and alter ego, eh? John Abraham … err … Rocky Handsome is a very average film with some finely executed action sequences on display. But, make no mistake: Don’t expect anything more from this film.
Packed with maniac action sequences, "Rocky Handsome" is a typical dark, moody and coarsely crafted crime drama that is based on the 2010 released Korean film "Man from Nowhere". Overall, "Rocky Handsome" is bound to appeal only to those fond of action films.
Loosely inspired from South Korean action-thriller film The Man From Nowhere, director Nikshikan Kamat’s Rocky Handsome, starring John Abraham in the lead role, is not exactly a gripping watch. Yes, it has action in it. Yes, it has John Abrahm with all his muscular self in it. And, yes, it has all the punches (and the kicks) that you have seen before in all slick Hollywood action films you have ever watched. But what it lacks is an interesting story that can keep you engaged and entertained.
South Korean filmmaking isn't one to hold back on violence. Gore and grace go hand in hand in its nimbly choreographed combats. Rocky Handsome disappoints on that front too. Kamath spends a sweet amount of time building up the hero's arrival on the scene and projection but as soon as it's slaughter time, the camera slips in a crazy rush to document the bloodshed. What survives is limp and spiritless.
Tension, action, emotion... #RockyHandsome chooses a riveting plot, but garnishes it with engrossing drama and stylish action stunningly... Nishikant Kamat blends style and content, maintaining a fine balance between jaw-dropping action & heart-rending emotions.. John Abraham carries #RockyHandsome on his brawny shoulders, essaying a part that fits him like glove. A well-made thriller!
