The controversy over Udta Punjab is not coming to an end. Cracking down upon the prevailing slew of allegations against Kashyap, Aamir Khan came out in support at an event today in Mumbai.
“It's very unfortunate. Pained that the film is going through this. According to my knowledge, the film is based on drug addiction and it delivers a social message. I don’t think there is anything that should be cut or audience should be kept away from seeing. It reflects badly on CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) and I hope the film gets justice at the tribunal.”
The actor went further on and said that the voice of the film and filmmaker shouldn’t be throttled. “They should have a free voice to speak. Every Indian should have the right to freedom of speech. I read in media that CBFC has changed and they would certify film. So I’m a bit surprised to cuts being given. I find it shocking to hear.”
Apart from Aamir Khan, Bollywood celebrities like Mahesh Bhatt, Imtiaz Ali, Kabir Khan, Zoya Akhtar, Arjun Kapoor, Vikram Bhatt, Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar among others have extended their support to Udta Punjab.
