Sajid Nadiadwala has revealed earlier that he is busy writing a sequel to Kick, which will obviously star Salman Khan. Talking about Kick, Sajid says he was apprehensive about the box office prospects of his 2014 directorial debut.
“As a director, I was apprehensive about the outcome of Kick. As it scored well, it is my duty to get above that expectation. They have accepted me as a big debut Bollywood director. So, I should write something brilliant,” Sajid said. “Definitely, it is difficult to maintain the Hollywood stylised action that we had in Kick. There are expectations from the sequel. Salman and I are friends from last 20 years and we have had 100 per cent track record together,” Sajid said.
Action sequences of Salman Khan-starrer Kick had created quite a buzz after its release. “If it’s action, I will definitely take some from there (Hollywood). I have two-three friends in Los Angeles… so, I will take them up for the film. For me, it is about the story first. Action and everything else will come later.”
Sajid said he is not certain yet when he will begin the principal photography of the movie. “I have started writing. I am not sure if I will direct next year as I am yet to complete writing.”
There were reports the Sultan star might do a double role. When asked about it, Sajid said, “We are working on the film. He is making fantastic films like Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan… So, you have to compete with those films.” The filmmaker, however, clarified that Salman is not involved in the scripting of the sequel. “He had an idea and we worked on it. But I work on my own. He is busy with his work."
Sajid Nadiadwala is also producing the sequel to the 1997 superhit comedy Judwaa, which had Salman Khan in a double role. The producer says he might rope in superstar Salman for a cameo in Judwaa 2. The sequel stars Varun Dhawan in the double role.
“It will be interesting to have him (Salman) in a cameo appearance. We would definitely want it. It depends on how the script shapes up. Cameos are good only if we have actors do it as per the requirement of the script otherwise no point just having someone for the heck of it.”
