With this film too, Ranbir Kapoor gives yet another stellar performance. One can't take eyes off from the screen when he emotes. He is just too good to watch! While Katrina Kaif isn’t that good of an actor, but since the plot is so engaging that you wouldn't even mind poker face Katrina trolling around with Ranbir, who completely steals the show. Though film has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, the final product compensates for it all. Catering primarily to kids, Jagga Jasoos is highly entertaining and a must watch this weekend.
Jagga Jasoos Review by NDTV
If Jagga Jasoos, for all its deviations, passes muster, it is largely due to a pivotal star turn that is worth its weight in gold and the heartily surreal touches that Basu imparts to this colourful, imaginative fantasy. It might take a while for audiences accustomed to more familiar generic idioms to get into the spirit of the film. Once you do it, it could be pretty easy to see that Jagga Jasoos has enough enjoyable passages to keep you hooked to its defiantly askew rhythm. But the line separating the two possibilities, be warned, is thin indeed.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Bollywood Life
I struggled to keep up with the narrative early on, despite liking the score and the songs, it was the over the top indulgence in every frame and scene that took away the joy of enjoying the small things. There is too much of sync and perfection in a lot of moments in the film. Jagga Jasoos is only worth a watch for Ranbir Kapoor’s class act. As a musical, the film falters on several notes.
Jagga Jasoos Review by DNA
It was meant to be a mega film but it turned out to be a mega mistake. You may go in with an open mind to see India's first musical film. While it's true to the genre, eventually the length will make your patience run out. You will be miserable if you are not a fan of musicals. Katrina Kaif is also horribly miscast and is awkward throughout the film. Ask yourself if you are ready to watch a script-less film with singing dialogues and there's your answer.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Filmfare
Jagga Jasoos could have been so much more. But it just feels like a long and winding screenplay that tries to fit in too many clever ideas. It showcases a journey across the hills of India and the vast wilderness filled expanses of Africa too. But apart from a visual zing, the film manages little in terms of heart and emotion. Its also peppered with such rookie mistakes like a cheetah roaring like a lion and an ostrich laying an egg on the road. But then, it’s a comical, light-hearted film that's supposed to entertain younger audiences. So may be the glitches can be overlooked. But all said and done, Jagga Jasoos doesn't get its heart in the right place. And that's just disappointing.
