Jacqueline Fernandez is set to play the lead role in the official Hindi remake of 2016 American mystery drama The Girl On The Train. The Hollywood film was based on the 2015 bestseller of the same name by Paula Hawkins.
The director Ribhu Dasgupta, who previously helmed the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Te3N, holds the official adaptation rights for the film and the book. He confirmed Jacqueline as his leading lady for this author-backed role.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, he said, “I have just finished the script. Jackie (Jacqueline) has come on board as the protagonist. While the novel had an ensemble cast, our film will revolve around her character. I have been looking forward to working with her and this seemed like a perfect project to collaborate. You get together to make a film when people think alike in many ways and when I had met her, I discovered we were on the same page”
Jacqueline Fernandez is currently busy shooting for Tarun Mansukhani's Drive with Sushant Singh Rajput. She was recently seen in Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2.
