The Fate of The Furious will roar into theaters in worldwide on this Friday. The eighth instalment of the franchise has an early release in few of the foreign countries.
The last film of F&F franchise was a mega success at the box office in India and worldwide. It opened to a record-breaking $147.2 million domestically and $397 million globally after the tragic death of series lead actor Paul Walker.
But the trade experts believe that it had massive buzz and hype and many wanted to see the final film of Walker, who died in a violent car crash in November 2013. So Fate of The Furious is unlikely to match that kind of number in domestic.
Fate of The Furious has 62% rating on Rotten Tomatoes which is low as compared to F7 (79%). Being made on a huge budget of $250 million, it will be the widest release of April beating The Jungle Book record. It will also release simultaneously in China so the worldwide numbers can match to F7.
Fate of The Furious is expected to earn $110 million in North American and $370 million plus globally. Thus it will be the second biggest opener of 2017.
F8 has a weird release in India as it has paid previews on Wednesday and full release from Thursday. Thus we are unable to predict the opening. The same thing also happened with xXx which had paid previews. Though our prediction for F8 was 13.50 crore if it opened on Friday. But now it is unlikely to match that figure due to the strange release strategy.
There is no major competition for next two weeks in India so it has potential to be a major grosser. As far now we think it will collect around 70-75 crore in its lifetime run.
