Dishoom has recorded the highest television ratings for 2016. It has beaten Akshay Kumar's Housefull 3 which held the record earlier by a very good margin of 22%. The film starring John Abraham and Varun Dhawan was an average grosser at the box office.
Dishoom was watched by a humongous 66,600 viewers at 21:00 – peaking at a huge 141,500 viewers. It was one of the biggest television premieres recently on Star Plus.
Salman Khan's Sultan will be premiered this month and is expected to set new records. Meanwhile, his Prem Ratan Dhan Payo remains the most watched film on TV premiered in 2016. However that film was a 2015 release.
The rating are impressions (BARC) which is basically the number of television sets that viewed the films on their respective premieres.
