2015 has proved to be an average affair for Bollywood. Some big films like Tevar, Mr. X and Bombay Velvet has disappointed a lot. While content driven films like NH 10, Dam Laga ke Haisha and Badlapur were successful at the box office.
May was a welcome change for Bollywood films. This month featured three successful films like Gabbar Is Back (Hit), Piku (Super Hit), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (Blockbuster).
This Friday Dil Dhadakne Do has hit the screens. It is an urban niche film which is mainly targeted at metro multiplexes. The film is released in 2300 sccreens.
Dil Dhadakne Do has taken a decent opening. The occupancy at the multiplexes in the morning shows is around 30% while single screens is 15-20%. The opening was best in Mumbai, Delhi & UP. This is the best opening of the year at multiplexes behind only TWMR. While Dil Dhadakne Do box office opening at multiplexes is good but it is poor in single screens which was always expected.
Dil Dhadakne Do has picked up the pace as the day progressed. The metro cities multiplexes are showing occupancy in the range of 70-80%. But the single screens have not shown any improvement. Nonetheless Dil Dhdakne Do will have good box office numbers on day 1.
While Dil Dhadakne Do has the best opening in Gulf where it was released on Thursday. It has collected approximately $225,000 on its opening day. The previous best of the year was TWMR & Piku around $150,000.
Dil Dhadakne Do has received positive reviews and word of mouth is also positive. So it will show good growth as the day progressed. It is always the case that multiplex oriented films start slowly in the morning and show growth as the day progressed. The film has also solid advance booking.
