As expected, all of the new releases have opened to a dull response at the box office. The last few months have been terrible for Bollywood film industry. Most of the new releases find it tough to open on Friday morning and only pick up in the evening if the response is positive. This weekend is not an exception. The 1st day collection of all the new films will be poor unless there is a dramatic turnaround in the evening.
Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol starrer has opened to around 10% occupancy in the morning shows. The film has a better start in North India where Sunny Deol still had some box office pull. But overall the opening is very poor and it will heavily rely on the growth in the evening shows.
Arjun Rampal's Daddy had a start of less than 10% on Friday morning. The film has found some takers in Mumbai belt which is contributing the most. But it is very poor in rest of the India with shows being cancelled at places.
There was also a Hollywood horror film IT which has a very controlled release as it is an adult film. It has opened to about 20-25% occupancy in metros. IT also has a limited screening in IMAX format.
