Punjabi cinema is going through a pretty good phase. Another film Ambarsariya was released today. The film starring Diljit Dosanjh and Navneet Kaur Dhillon has been directed by Mandeep Kumar. It has done excellent business despite the fact that initial buzz was not that great.
As per the early estimates, Ambarsariya box office collection on its first day will be around 1.95 crore in all over India. The film opened to huge occupancy in East Punjab and Delhi. The Good Friday holiday also gave a huge boost to Ambarsariya collection. The opening is the second highest opening ever in the history of Punjabi cinema. It has broken the record of Jutt and Juliet 2. While Sardaar Ji still remains the biggest opener. Interestingly all three films featured Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles.
Diljit Dosanjh is undoubtedly the biggest super star in Punjabi cinema. His contemporaries like Gippy Grewal and Amrinder Gill are far behind. Though this success was necessary for Diljit as his last film Mukhtiar Chadha was a critical and commercial failure. Ambarsariya has received good reviews and audience have also like the film. So we can hope that it will hold well on Saturday and then grow on Sunday. After the opening weekend, we will have a clear view that where this film is going to land in its lifetime run.
Punjabi film industry has finally revived. There have been very few successful films in last few months. But the recent releases Ardaas and Love Punjab have turned out to be hits despite facing each other. And now it looks like that Ambarsariya is also going to emerge a winner at the box office.
